Goodwood Members Meeting 2022

The most eclectic and phenomenal day of circuit racing in the calendar every year without fail.

While practice was on track in the morning we took a wander through the various paddocks getting up close and personal with everything from pre-war grand-prix cars to Group C Porsches and Formula Drift cars. It's an event where the enthusiasm is high, driver, owners and mechanics all keen to show and discuss their vehicles.

The setting of Goodwood Motor Circuit is epic, especially with the daffodils in full bloom around the paddock and circuit. With the length of days in March we were treated to a Le Mans inspired spectacular with the Porsche 962C group going out for a high speed demonstration over golden hour and into dusk. The noise, smell and sight was second to none, seeing a crowd of ten sets of headlights roaring through the low light down the pit straight and coming through the first corner side by side jostling for position.

After night had fallen the party started but it meant the paddock was completely empty, this is our favourite time to get round. Despite the bitter cold baring down you can't fail to be amazed by the atmospheric surrounding looking clean and ready for the next days racing. Not all cars are ready with some major mechanical work being done including a full bottom end engine rebuild on a pizza box.
